Dimensions: 26 x 25 x 2 Year created: 2021 Overall dimensions: 34x31 Medium: Acrylic on sixteen text panels Artist's Statement: 2020 was a very difficult year for the entire world. I lost my only sister and my wife lost a brother, neither from Covid. Since funerals were not safe I thought of how I could create an artwork that included them. I created sixteen panels that incorporate 508 words about 2020. Each panel has memories of the year. From BLM to the heroes that worked through the pandemic the panels recall events and issues of the year.

Amber Williams
State: IL
Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 75 Year created: 2023 Medium: Collage Artist's Statement: Collage has been my preferred form of artistic expression since childhood. I rediscovered my passion and have been refining my skills since 2010. I mostly create landscapes, both real and imaginary. Primary source materials are security envelope patterns, magazines, and books. Since so much of human history is documented by the trash created, my process is an unintentional wink to my previous studies of Anthropology. Most recent collages include a polycrylic ink transfer method as well as traditional collage.

Creating art has always been part of my life. The human form is often the center of my work, and the abstract elements of art are just as important to me as any subject matter I may be portraying. I strive to make pieces that have a timeless quality, contain strong aesthetics, and are a mystery for the viewer. Realism can be part of my sculptures and it is often blended with other forms to create an interesting, thought provoking image. I love the idea of a relic from another time or place and the magic of things unknown.
