Peter Xiao

Two of my paintings comment on social media in our democratic society enabling individuals to place personal convictions before facts which were supposedly shared once upon a time, and are now shaken, sometimes discredited by "alternative truths". My mixed media piece attempts to present common fact of a shirt and tie (diseased prof's gifts and stand in) with an illusive tabletop over a real one to be viewed at floor level and from all sides and angles, testing my understanding of color value, intensity and temperature's roles in generating spatial illusion and movement.
