Statement
My most recent group of Murals are an interpretation of the northeastern Iowa landscape. I started working on murals when I lived in northern Illinois about ten years ago. That part of Illinois is quite different from the rolling hills, cliffs, meandering streams and rivers where I live now. In the beginning the murals were more about painting, color and reflected light using metal and copper as the primary ingredients. The Illinois landscape spoke of space, color and light. The new Iowa murals have acquired a more three dimensional quality incorporating found objects along with metal, copper, paint and photography. I have found the northeast Iowa landscape to be far more varied and textured with hills, wooded areas, streams, valleys and rocky cliffs interrupting light and color with shadows and walls.
